Kendal and Dent Watchmakers are two of the most renowned watchmaking companies in England, with a rich history and reputation for producing high-quality timepieces.

The Kendal Watch Company was founded by John Barrow in 1776, and it quickly established a reputation for producing high-quality watches. In 1815, the company was taken over by the Dent family, who had already established themselves as watchmakers in London. The company was renamed Kendal and Dent, and it continued to produce exceptional timepieces for the next century.

Kendal and Dent watches were known for their accuracy and reliability, and they were used by various organizations, including the British navy and the Indian railways. The company also supplied clocks for prominent public buildings, such as the clock tower at the Houses of Parliament in London.

One of Kendal and Dent's most significant achievements was the production of the Great Clock for the Palace of Westminster in 1854. The clock, which is often referred to as Big Ben, is one of the most iconic timepieces in the world and is still in use today.

Dent watches were also popular with explorers and adventurers, including Sir Ernest Shackleton, who wore a Dent chronometer on his Antarctic expeditions. The company was awarded a Royal Warrant in 1871, which allowed it to supply watches to the royal family.

The company still produces high-quality timepieces. The company's watches are known for their precision and attention to detail, and they are highly sought after by collectors and watch enthusiasts around the world.
