ILLINOIS size 18 large and gorgeous 17 jewel railroad grade pocket watch in fine running condition. This is a heavy and we mean heavy solid STERLING SILVER with actual GOLD inlay open faced watch with horse racing motif of two jockeys on horses surrounded by a horseshoe, This is definitely a fine collectors item as we have never seen a piece like this before. Photos do not do justice as this is a large watch and invites light glare but is actually beautiful in hand.
Movement is a full plate nickel beautifully decorated with a lever escapement and micrometer regulator. It is signed Illinois Watch Co. Springfield, 17 Jewels and is in fine condition with solid gold screw down jewel cups.
The case is a large Sterling Illinois watch case indicating SterlingSilver and signed Illinois. The case has a screw off bezel and the movement swings out in a hinged support. Big hefty special watch.
The dial is white enamel double sunk with blue steel Brequet hands and black Roman numbers. Seconds dial at number six position. Original bevelled mineral glass crystal. Watch is stem wound and lever set and measures 57 mm in diameter. Your man will enjoy this lovely watch.
