GRUEN 14K GOLD Veri Thin Precision Pocket Watch

GRUEN 14K white gold  finely crafted and well running  open faced pocket watch with dial signed by the founder  of Gruen Watch Company, Dietrich Gruen.  This is a very distinctive 21 jewel  Gruen Precision, chronograph grade pocket watch with gold jewel cups of the classy Art Deco style and era in a very striking pentagonal shape in gold and beautifully accented with black enamel and fine engraving on the edges.   Watch dial is  slightly aged silvered with beautiful black Cathedral hands,  black Arabic numbers and sub seconds dial at number six position.  Comes with a 10K white gold bankers style chain.

Initially Dietrich Gruen had the movements manufactured in Germany, but later, he would build a movement factory in Switzerland .  Pocket watches in the late 1800’s were large and heavy and Gruen tried to make his watches smaller, thinner and more comfortable to carry in a vest pocket without sacrificing reliability or accuracy.  The Gruen Veri Thin pocket watch was a major breakthrough at the time and at this point in the 1900’s Gruen specialized in thin, elegant pocket watches as you can see from this very fine example.  This is an elegant watch for the well dressed gentleman.
