In  1862, Harriet Samuel (née Wolf) took over her father-in-law  Moses Samuels clock-making and silversmith business in Liverpool.  Harriet moved the business to Manchester's Market Street and ran the mail-order side  Her son developed the retail business, and opened the first H. Samuel retail store in Preston in 1890, closely followed by branches in Rochdale and throughout Lancashire.  To accommodate the growing business, the company moved to larger headquarters in Birmingham in 1912. Since then, the company has become nationwide and has branches in many British cities.

This lovely example is a sterling silver double hinge  key winding movement which is well running.  The dial is excellent and is signed  H. Samuel Manchester. with a couple of very faint hairlines which are  almost unnoticeable  The inside cover of the movement states “Fully Jewelled”  Guaranteed along with several awards for excellence beautifully engraved  on the cover.    The watch is 53.5 mm in diameter and there are hallmarks inside both of the case backs for London 1915  with the makers mark for H. Samuel.  Back of case has an open shield ready for initials.  The case is in fine condition with just some minor marking from normal use.    You will enjoy wearing this great looking key wind pocket watch.   Comes with a key and a velvet presentation bag.
