There were several models in the Oyster Prince series The present  watch is a fine example of the Tudor Prince Oysterdate in an unusually large 38mm case giving rise to the nickname of “Jumbo”.

The Tudor brand was launched in the mid forties by Hans Wilsdorf to become a more modest priced brand next to the Rolex the without sacrificing the Rolex standards of dependability that was expected of Rolex.  The early Tudors were made with Rolex parts.  The Tudor Oyster Prince was introduced in 1952 and featured men wearing Tudors in special strenuous conditions.  During its introduction year, over two dozen men wearing Oyster Princes went on a British scientific expedition to Greenland.  This is a watch for a collector who wants a famous branded watch that is extremely well made and will enjoy wearing this very good looking “Jumbo”.
