WALTHAM 9CT GOLD Military Trench watch used in WW1, The rare watch has a 15 jewel manual wind movement grade 115 and it is well running. The watch measures 32mm diameter excluding crown and has fixed wire lugs. The case is 9 Ct rose gold and it is hallmarked inside the hinged case back for Birmingham 1914 with a case makers mark for Aaron Dennison. This case company supplied a majority of their cases to Waltham UK. The signed dial is excellent with black Arabic numbers and black spade pointers a red number 12 along with an outer minute track,
The back of the watch is engraved with the name of the soldier and we are sure this watch went into battle in WW1 as the inscription in the case back says Mizpah and the date of 1915. The Mizpah wish "May God Watch Over You" was taken from the Book of Genesis and was revived in the 1900's when men were leaving their families to fight in The Great War. WW1. These inscriptions were added to all tokens sent with the soldiers. This is a lovely historical watch and one you will enjoy owning.
