ILLINOIS RAILROAD Pocket Watch

I2430

ILLINOIS SANGAMO 23 jewel Railroad grade fine and well running watch in lovely and near mint condition.  The beautifully damaskeened nickel  movement is signed in gold lettering Sangamo 23 jewels with double roller, adjusted to temperature, 6 positions with Gold jewel settings and solid gold escape wheel.  This fine and rare watch has a 14K green gold filled case with Art Deco style  engravings and  an open shield  and is in excellent condition and signed Dueber – Warranted 20 years.

The dial is white double sunk  with black and red color tracks and is a “true”  Montgomery dial and not just a Montgomery style as you can see. The Montgomery Safety Dial was invented by Henry S Montgomery, the General Watch and Clock Inspector  for the Santa Fe Railroad from 1826 to 1923.  This dial helped to insure accurate readings.    This makes a special and highly collectible watch.  The hands are black spade pointers and black Arabic numbers.  This is a size 16  watch – 50 mm diameter without crown. An excellent watch for your collection or to wear for all occasions. You will enjoy this fine timepiece.
