Circa 1910 Kendal & Dent London Silver Pocket Watch – Albert Chain, Photo Fob

A fine Edwardian silver pocket watch retailed by Kendal & Dent of London, dating to approximately 1910 and accompanied by a hallmarked silver Albert chain, an antique photographic fob, winding keys and a handsome period presentation box. The watch features the distinctive “Makers to the Admiralty” inscription on its dial, reflecting the firm's historical association with marine timekeeping. Kendal & Dent was an established London watchmaking and retail firm, offering both English and Swiss-made timepieces during the late Victorian and Edwardian periods.

The substantial open-face case is crafted in Swiss 0.935 silver, a slightly higher silver purity than British sterling, and bears the traditional Swiss bear hallmarks. It remains in very attractive condition, retaining its plain rear cartouche, strong hinges and inner protective cover. The beautifully preserved white enamel dial features bold black Roman numerals, elegant gold-coloured hands and a subsidiary seconds register at 6 o'clock, with the Kendal & Dent London signature prominently displayed beneath the 12. The Swiss-made key-wound movement is currently running with a strong, steady tick, and the watch retains its original-style winding arrangement.

Adding considerable charm is the accompanying hallmarked silver Albert chain, dating to approximately 1914, with individually hallmarked links, T-bar and dog clip. Suspended from the chain is an antique photographic fob depicting a woman believed, according to the previous owner's family, to be a great-grandparent. This personal detail offers a particularly evocative connection to the watch's past and has been thoughtfully preserved with the ensemble.

Completing the set is an attractive vintage presentation box from Rayner Macdonald, Jewellers & Antiques, Harrogate, with a rich brown exterior and fitted interior showing the expected character of age. Together with the accompanying winding keys, the watch and accessories form a handsome Edwardian ensemble with considerable period appeal.
