WALTHAM POCKET WATCH with Historical Inscription

WALTHAM Sterling Silver open faced man’s key wind pocket watch in fine running condition with historical engraving. The beautiful white enamel dial is signed and has black Roman numbers and original gold pointers. Seconds dial at number six position.  This dial has only the faintest aging marks which are hardly noticeable.  It is a Broadway Grade model 1883 which has a historical inscription on inside cover which reads as follows:   Presented to H. Holgate from His Master Mr. C.L. Leach, Jan. 1896.  Well, is this a gift to an indentured servant, an apprentice or possibly was it to a slave well after emancipation?  Diameter of watch is 53mm. (2 1/4”).  The case and dust cover protecting movement are sterling silver in very good condition with a machined back encircling an open and un-initialed shield and  all are hallmarked as sterling.   The makers mark is for Alfred Bedford, who was manager of Waltham, London.  This is a fine looking silver pocket watch with an antique key any man will enjoy wearing.
