Kendal & Dent were very well known British watch makers and they supplied ships' chronometers for the ADMIRALTY.
The watch is sterling silver and has a 15 jewelled Swiss stem-winding movement, which is running well and has just been serviced. The movement is protected by an inner hinged cover. The white enamel dial is signed Kendal & Dent London.MAKERS TO THE ADMIRALTY. The dial has bold black Roman numbers and black spade pointers with a seconds dial at the number six position.
The watch itself measures 50 mm diameter excluding the winding crown and the stem. The case is Sterling silver and there are silver hallmarks inside the two case backs for London 1912 with the importers mark, The case has machining on back with an open shield ready for your initials. Kendal & Dent - a great watch maker who made watches for the Admiralty which is stamped on the watch movement and watch dial.
Comes with a nice weighty Silver Albert chain each link hallmarked with heavy silver grade fob c1910.
Also Comes with a lovely original Mappin & Webb London watch box in excellent condition as the watch would have been sold by Mappin and Webb, one of the most prestigious jewellers in all of the UK. Overall a very handsome watch and chain for your gentleman.
