English sterling silver J W Benson half hunter The movement is a sparkling mint condition 15 jewel 3/4 plate which has a lever escapement and is signed J W Benson and comes with original JW Benson leather and navy velvet lined box.
J W Benson originated in 1847 and was founded by James William Benson and Samuel S. Benson who were regarded as one of London’s most prestigious retail jewellers during Victorian times. They also manufactured their own movements and their company boasted a clientele of British and European Kings, Queens and Princes including of course Queen Victoria and the Prince of Wales.
The sterling silver case has perfect blue enamel Roman numbers on the front cover with no enamel missing. The case has a smooth plain finish with the Royal cypher of George VI engraved on back along with his initials and the year 1937 with the Royal Crown above making this watch unusual and very rare. nson. The watch is 52mm diameter and is stem set and stem wound.
