LEONIDAS 1920S CHRONOGRAPH - VALJOUX

A fine example of early 20th-century Swiss craftsmanship, this Leonidas chronograph pocket watch dates from the 1920s and features a Valjoux stem-winding chronograph movement produced for Leonidas. The mechanism is running well, with both timekeeping and chronograph functions operating correctly.

The watch is presented in a nickel case measuring 51mm in diameter (excluding the winding stem and loop). The case remains in very good condition, showing only light marks from age and use, with no dents or notable wear. The movement is protected by an inner hinged dust cover, which shows minor marking consistent with age.

The acrylic crystal is clear and well-preserved, displaying only light surface marks. The signed Leonidas dial features an inner 24-hour scale, two subsidiary dials (constant seconds and a 30-minute recorder), and an outer 0–300 scale typical of navigation chronographs produced for the English market. There is a small area of older scuff near the lower edge of the dial, noted for accuracy but not distracting from its vintage character.

This handsome timepiece is accompanied by a period presentation box, completing its period authenticity. A superb example of an early Leonidas chronograph, it represents both functionality and the enduring quality of interwar Swiss horology.
