The Tudor brand was launched in the mid forties by Hans Wilsdorf to become a more modest priced brand next to the Rolex the without sacrificing the Rolex standards of dependability that was expected of Rolex. The early Tudors were made with Rolex parts. The Tudor Oyster Prince was introduced in 1952 and featured men wearing Tudors in special strenuous conditions. During its introduction year, over two dozen men wearing Oyster Princes went on a British scientific expedition to Greenland.
