A Fine Quality Silver Pocket Watch by Samuel Smith, 9 Strand, London — “Watchmakers to the Admiralty”
A superb example of Samuel Smith craftsmanship, this gentleman’s silver pocket watch dates to the 1920s and showcases both English heritage and Swiss precision.
Case: Solid silver case, hallmarked with two Swiss bears and stamped .935 grade silver. Beautifully engine-turned engraving to the back with a plain central cartouche, all hinges perfect with no splits or repairs. Inner silver dust cover present. Finished with a strong silver bow and gold-toned winding button. Case diameter 50 mm, weight 100.7 grams.
Dial: Pristine white enamel dial without cracks or chips, featuring bold black numerals, elegant gold hands, and a subsidiary seconds dial at six.
Movement: High-grade Swiss jewelled movement, exceptionally clean and running strongly with a good steady tick. Signed and finely engraved: “S. Smith & Sons, 9 Strand, Watchmakers to the Admiralty, London” with reference no. 1590277. Top-wind mechanism with pin setting.
Condition: Excellent throughout — fully working, keeping excellent time, and beautifully preserved.
Presentation: Housed in a fitted box .
