Here is a rare and exquisite Grenfell & Frazier pocket watch from Edgware Road, London, near Marble Arch, with silver hallmarks for Chester, 1898. The Grenfell and Frazier shop was conveniently located just around the corner from Marble Arch. The silver case remains in excellent condition, featuring a strong top, winding button, and a sturdy silver bow with a gold hue. The white enamel dial is pristine, free from cracks or chips, and boasts black numerals, blued steel hands, and a small sweep second hand at the 6 o’clock position. This crown-wind, pin-set timepiece allows you to set the time by pressing the side pin at the 1 o’clock mark. With a diameter of 50mm, it offers a classic, elegant look.
This English lever watch, clean and fully functional, is especially rare due to the engraved Marble Arch logo on the movement. It comes paired with a striking silver Albert chain, complete with a Victorian fob, also hallmarked in Chester, 1897. The 35.8g silver graduated chain is fully hallmarked on each link, bar, and fastener. The Victorian fob features a bloodstone on one side and a compass on the other, adding a touch of historic charm. Together, this watch and chain/fob create a truly handsome and distinguished ensemble.
