WALTHAM Silver Pocket watch with Chain

Waltham William Ellery Sterling silver pocket watch in fine running condition with a key and beautiful long single Albert sterling chain and fob.   This is a key wind and key set watch with a perfect white dial and black Roman numbers.  The sterling silver case is 51 mm in diameter is English and hallmarked for Chester with a case makers mark for Alfred Bedford, who was manager of the Waltham plant in the UK.  The case is in very good condition for such an early piece with just normal wear. 

The watch comes with a  heavy silver Albert chain weighing 62 g and is  unusually long at 44 cm long and including the T- bar and clasp and is fully hallmarked.  Attached to the chain is a silver fob with scrolled initials of wb on the gold wash on front of fob and the date of 1922 on the reverse.  Beautiful solid silver Waltham watch  from a historical era in a fine case with chain ready to wear.  This will certainly please your gentleman.

   William Ellery signed the Declaration of Independence for Rhode Island in 1776.  During the Civil War, Waltham’s watch factory designed the William Ellery model and these watches became very popular with Union soldiers and by 1865, the year the war ended, William Ellery movements represented almost half of Waltham’s sales.
